When Greg Burge was four years old, his Uncle Ted built him a child-size version of a carpenter’s bench and that started his love of woodworking. Born in Los Angeles, California, Greg has lived all over the United States and Latin America. He was educated at California State University at San Francisco, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Criminology.
Woodworking was initially a hobby, but as Greg’s interest grew he studied under such recognized artists as Del Stubbs, Sam Maloof, and James Krenov opening his first professional shop in Chico, California, in 1974.
Greg has a love for antique restoration, and finds satisfaction in restoring family heirlooms. Greg is a talented designer, creating high-end, one-of-a-kind custom furniture pieces. He works in all furniture periods and enjoys designing in conjunction with clients. He has trained his own apprentices and also teaches woodworking to both children and adults from beginners to advanced students. His work has been exhibited in Chico, Los Angeles, and many Peninsula locations.
Greg continues to create custom furniture, teach, and restore family heirlooms in San Carlos with his wife and business partner, Beth Godfrey-Burge.
Our mission is the creation of custom furniture that is unique, functional, and of lasting beauty. This includes restoring the beauty and usefulness of treasured family heirlooms.
